We are an active parish which relies on the volunteers from within to help. Each Ministry is an invitation and an opportunity to serve and to be involved in the Parish community.

Please find listed below a current list of ministries/activities in our Parish. ALTAR SOCIETY
The Altar Society is responsible for cleaning and laundering sacramental items in the Church. They also set-up the altar linens for weekday and weekend Masses. Volunteers Needed: If interested to help, please contact the parish office 9874 2533.

CATECHISTS
A dedicated team of catechists serve our Catholic families in Eastwood and Carlingford Primary Schools. Lessons are conducted once a week. Training and resources are available.

CENACLE MARIAN MOVEMENT OF THE LAITY
Meets every Thursday in the Holy Family Chapel inside the Church or Online via Zoom.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY
During the 9:30am Sunday Mass in school terms. Children are escorted to the Parish Hall by Parent Co-ordinators and split into two groups; 3 – 6 yrs & 7 and up. They celebrate the Liturgy of the Word, and return to the Church for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

CHOIR/SINGERS
Rehearsals are held weekly in the Church. New singers most welcome.

COUNTERS
Mondays – from 8:00am for an hour. Assist with counting money from our collections.

EXERCISE CLASS
A free exercise class is held for parishioners of St Kevin’s on Tuesdays at 4:15pm in the Haseler Centre.

FOSK (Friends of St Kevin)
The FOSK morning tea is held on the 1st Sunday of the month immediately after the 9:30am Mass outside the Church.

FINANCE COMMITTEE
Meets every 2 months. Assists Parish Priest with all financial matters relating to the operation, maintenance and planning of our Parish.

LITURGICAL MINISTRIES

  • Senior Servers – assist the priest in carrying out the Eucharistic ministry. Rosters completed every 4 months.
  • Junior Servers – for children in Year 3 & above who have already made their First Communion. Children are rostered on approximately once every four weeks. Training provided.
  • Readers & Commentators – Rosters completed every 4 months.
  • Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion – Rosters completed every 4 months.

MUSICIANS
Please contact the Parish Office if you can offer your services as a musician.

PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL
Meets every 2 months at the discretion of the parish priest. The purposes of this Council are:

  • Discerning what the real needs are in the parish and the community, endeavouring to involve the whole of the parish in the work of the church;
  • Co-ordinating activities of parish organisations;
  • Being a means of fostering a sense of community;
  • Being a vehicle of communication between the laity, religious and clergy.

PLAYGROUP
St Kevin’s Playgroup is a parish and community based group. It is organised and funded by its members on a voluntary basis. There is a variety of free play, craft, games, painting, play dough and a story and singing time for the children. There is morning tea for both children and adults. It is a lovely way to enjoy a morning out with your child in the company of other parents and grandparents. For info please contact the parish office.

Playgroup meets on Wednesdays from 9:15am to 11:15am during school terms in the Haseler Centre (Parish Hall) or at a local park, library, etc.

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS (RCIA)
RCIA is the process by which adults become Catholics.  It reaches a climax on Holy Saturday night during the Easter Liturgy. If you’ve never been baptised, or if you are a baptised member of another Christian denomination and would like to find out more about the Catholic faith; or if you’re a Catholic who would like to learn more about the faith, you’re welcome! SOCIAL OUTINGS
During the year, outings to theatre, day trips etc. are organized for parishioners and friends. Details of upcoming events will be published in the Parish Bulletin.

ST VINCENT DE PAUL
The St Vincent de Paul Society is an international Catholic voluntary organisation of lay people,
women and men. As Vincentians we are called to follow Christ through service to those in need.

SVDP volunteers work with people in need, visiting and building relationships, and supporting them until they can get back on their feet. We provide them food, clothing, access to medical services and other necessities. Two special works in St Kevin’s Eastwood are ‘The Bread Run’ and managing the Church Piety Store. Meetings are held on the first and third Monday evenings.

The Eastwood Conference of St Vincent de Paul are looking for new members. If you are interested to join, please contact the parish office.
